HAZWOPER Operations
Course Registration
To schedule a training course, please fill out the registration form and include as much information as you can regarding the number of students and timeframes. All training courses are conducted in a classroom setting.
8Hr. Training Course
$395.00 - p/student
First responders at the “operations level” (respond to prevent the spread, exposures to and the further release of hazardous materials) must have 8 hours of training plus “awareness level” competency.
OSHA Knowledge Requirements
❖ An understanding of what hazardous materials are and the risks associated with them in an incident. (Ref.GI-1910.120(q)(6)(i)(A),CI-1926.65 (q)(6)(i)(A))
❖ An understanding of the potential outcomes associated with an emergency created when hazardous materials are present. (Ref.GI-1910.120(q)(6)(i)(B), CI-1926.65 (q)(6)(i)(B))
❖ The ability to recognize the presence of hazardous materials in an emergency. (Ref.GI-1910.120 (q)(6)(i)(C), CI-1926.65 (q)(6)(i)(C))
❖ The ability to identify hazardous materials, if possible. (Ref.GI-1910.120 (q)(6)(i)(D), CI-1926.65 (q)(6)(i)(D))
❖ An understanding of their role in an employer’s emergency response plan including site security and control, and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Response Guidebook. (Ref.GI-1910.120 (q)(6)(i)(E), CI-1926.65 (q)(6)(i)(E))
❖ The ability to realize the need for additional resources, and to make appropriate notifications to the communication center. (Ref.GI-1910.120 (q)(6)(i)(F), CI-1926.65 (q)(6)(i)(F)) ❖ Knowledge of basic hazard and risk assessment techniques. (Ref.GI-1910.120 (q)(6)(ii)(A), CI- 1926.65 (q)(6)(ii)(A)) ❖ Know how to select and use proper personal protective equipment provided to the first responder operations level.
